Privacy Policy
Last updated November 7, 2026
Mistakes Were Made Games ("we", "us") is a one-person game studio based in Denver, Colorado. This policy explains what we collect on mistakesweremadegames.com and our links page, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Signup form: your email address and the games you are interested in (for example, playtests). You give us this when you submit the form.
- Basic server data: our host (Netlify) processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Advertising and analytics tools: we may use tools from Meta, Google, TikTok and similar providers to measure and improve our ads. These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers. If we enable them, this page will say so, and you can opt out through your browser settings or the platform's ad settings.
How we use it
- To send playtest invitations, release news and the occasional development update about our games.
- To understand which parts of the site and our ads work.
- To keep the site secure and fix bugs.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your email for anything unrelated to our games.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run the site, send email and measure advertising (for example, our hosting provider and email or analytics tools). They may process your data only to provide their service to us.
Discord and social platforms
If you join our Discord server or follow us on a social platform, that platform's own privacy policy governs what it collects. We see what you choose to post there.
How long we keep it
We keep your email until you ask us to remove it or you unsubscribe. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or unsubscribe at any time. If you live in California, the EU, the UK or another region with privacy rights, you may have additional rights, including to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell it) and to lodge a complaint with your regulator. To make a request, email mike@mistakesweremadegames.com.
Children
Our site and signup are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us their email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above.
